About Me

I’m Margherita Zottola, an interpreter, translator and language teacher passionate about multilingualism and multiculturalism.

I was born in Milan and travelled throughout the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland before settling down in Emilia-Romagna (Italy), where I have been working in the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna and Rimini.

Thanks to the web, I work with clients from all over the world.

I hold a degree in Applied Cross-Language Communication (Bachelor’s Degree) and Conference Interpreting (Master’s Degree) at the Department of Interpreting and Translation (DIT) of the University of Bologna headquartered in Forlì.

I hold the Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE), the highest-level general English qualification awarded by Cambridge Assessment English.

In addition to being passionate about languages, I am very keen on sports, especially running and fitness, both in the gym and outdoors. For this reason, I attended the ‘Exercise and Health Fitness’ Course at University College Dublin in Ireland, qualifying as a Level I Fitness Instructor.

Why Words in Bloom?

Words in Bloom is a reference to my first name, Margherita, and to words, my greatest passion.
This idea, which was initially a small bud, blossomed thanks to the expertise of Ilaria Piolanti and her team, who accompanied me with professionalism and dedication throughout the entire process: from coming up with the name to creating the logo and designing the website.

My story

I’m a freelance interpreter, translator and teacher fascinated by languages, people and cultures.

My insatiable curiosity towards the world and foreign languages started at an early age: I remember trying to communicate with the foreign children I met during my school summer holidays and writing down the strange and marvellous sounds that came to my ears.

At 19, following a six-month stay in Ireland, I obtained the Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) qualification, which requires an especially high command of English at a near-native level.

During my high-school, graduate and post-graduate studies, I combined my proficiency in English with the learning of Spanish, German and Russian, and then gradually familiarized myself with French, Romanian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Portuguese.

For ten years, I worked as a TEFL teacher and translation project manager at a language service provider. During this time, not only did I manage translation and interpreting projects, but also carried them out myself. This allowed me to come into direct contact with both corporate and private clients as well as freelance translators and interpreters.
